The Nigerian city of Lagos is one of the world's fastest growing, but it is also considered one of the five worst places on earth to live. Officials say they are doing all they can, but getting around the city is a problem as its infrastructure is at a breaking point. Meanwhile, Abuja, which was made Nigeria's capital in 1976, appears to lack those problems. Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports on what is one of Africa's most overcrowded cities. There are an estimated 15 uncontacted tribes living in the Peruvian Amazon, all face catastrophe unless their land is protected Survival has been calling on the Peruvian government to protect land inhabited by uncontacted tribes since the 1970s. Today, five reserves have been created for uncontacted tribes, and Peru has ratified laws that uphold the tribes’ right to be left alone. But now the threats are greater than ever. Illegal loggers and miners are invading the forest, and oil and gas concessions cut across more than 70% of Peru’s Amazon region. We’re campaigning to ensure the government upholds uncontacted tribes’ right to their land and prevents outsiders from invading it.
Here is what it looks like to live in a small west African village! My team and I had the opportunity to preach for a week in a remote village. So I decided to film it and share what daily life looks like for the people of Rubino, Côte d’Ivoire. - ABOUT ME - My name is Kelsay, and I am 22 years old. The Mursi peoples are one of the most famous tribes from the Omo Valley in Southern Ethiopia. The main reason for their popularity is the fact that their women wear large clay plates in their lower lips. This draws hordes of tourists, who come here in pursuit of getting photographs of primitive people that nobody else has.

The small West African nation of Togo is the least happy country in the world- that's according to the recently released World Happiness Report from the United Nations. The rankings are based on things like GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, corruption and social freedoms. In the first installment of our series, Clementine Logan went to find out, if in the wake of the country's elections, people are optimistic Togo can climb a little higher in the happiness league
This is a video of "everyday life" in a rural village called Lissezoun in Benin, West Africa. I lived in this village during my time in the US Peace Corps 2004-2007. I went back to visit my Beninese family, friends and community in Dec. 2013 and took these video clips while staying with the Honzonon Family. As you can see, many of the children within their family are responsible for taking care of the "household" tasks around their home. My Beninese work partner and dear friend, Mathieu Honzonon, is the director of our Non-Profit Organization (NGO), "It Must Work!". The children in this video are his own, relatives, and orphans that our NGO has taken in so that they have a supportive and caring home. I hope that this video gives our students, and people around the world, a better un...

Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. They include the plains of Serengeti National Park, a safari mecca populated by the “big five” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain. Offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar, with Arabic influences, and Mafia, with a marine park home to whale sharks and coral reefs. Capital: Dodoma
40 years ago Uganda was home to a large Asian community, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs called it paradise. But the peace and tranquillity that existed for generations was to be short lived due to the actions of Idi Amin. In 1972 he ordered Asians to leave the country and were given just 90 days to flee. Pukaar News travelled to Uganda with Businessman Khalid Sheikh from Leicester. He was born in Uganda but had to leave with his family when he was just 14, but he regularly returns to visit his mothers grave. Pukaar News spoke to other Ugandan Asians who were forced to leave 40 years ago but have since returned to the county and re-started businesses including Mayur Madhvani and Sudhir Ruparelia.

Working in the rain cutting down wood
Didn't do my little brother much good
Lost two fingers ina chainsaw bite
All he does now is drink and fight
Sells a bit of grass hots up cars
Talks of travel never gets far
Loves his kids left his wife
An everyday story of country life
And the red brick cottage where I was born
Is the empty shell of a holiday home
Most of the year there's no-one there
The village is dead and they don't care
Now we live on the edge of town
Haven't been back since the pub closed down
One man's family pays the price
FOr another man's visio of country life
My old man is eighty four
His generation won the war
He left the farm forever when
They only kept on one in ten
Landed gentry county snobs
Where were you when they lost their jobs
No-one marched or subsidised
To save a country way of life
Silent fields empty lanes
Drifting smoke distant flames
Picture postcard hills on fire
Cattle burning in funeral pyres
Out to graze they look so sweet
We hate the blood we want the meat
Buy me a beer I'll take my knife
Cut you a slice of country life
If you want cheap food well here's the deal
Family farms are brought to heel
Hammer blows of size and scale
Foot and mouth the final nail
The coffin of our English dream
Lies out on the village green
While agri-barons CAP in hand
Strip this green and pleasant land
Of meadow, woodland, hedgerow, pond
What remains gets built upon
No trains, jobs
No shops, no pubs
What went wrong
